Disappearing Women

There are so many ways to make a woman disappear.

You can kill her, beat her down, silence her, tell her she isn’t a ‘real woman’, erase her story, make her change her name, create an entire system that depends on her labour but does not acknowledge it…

Disappearing Women is a piece of devised political theatre that works with communities of women who are not visible and creates a space where their stories can be told.

We create a compelling narrative that asks: What has the world lost by this disappearance?

We have big plans for this project.

We hope to be able to take this piece abroad and work with ‘disappeared’ women internationally, creating a devised theatre tapestry that combines artistic technique and academic research with community outreach. We aim to provide spaces for women who are not usually visible to finally tell their own stories.
